The skies are back to blue in London, just in time for the spring fashion season to come out of hibernation. It is time to say goodbye to the neutral-toned trench coats, and time to say hello to the bright colours of this year's spring season.

Walking to a local café in East London, I could not help but turn my head when I saw such vibrant colours coming from the direction of Spitalfields Market. With a smile on my face and an extra pound in my pocket I knew that this was going to be a great fashion-filled day.

Walking alongside many other locals and tourists I browsed through the independent small designer stands. The shiny jewellery and colourful knit sweaters were screaming, “Spring is here!”.

But with a market like Spitalfields it can be difficult to find your specific ‘fashion calling’. The independent stands seemed to follow a common theme of the other markets in London. The purses, coats, and jewellery all looked the same to me. So how did I find the diamond in the pile of rocks?

I felt like London just turned grey again, I was disappointed in the lack of authenticity. Just as I felt like giving up, I stumbled upon Traid, a charity vintage shop.

As I walked into the shop it felt like the sun had just peeked through the clouds. I was dragging hangers across the rack to the beat of the loud music that was playing throughout the shop. Feeling confident in my fashion sense I walked around looking for the perfect item for the season.

And just like that I found my diamond. I grabbed a deep sky-blue high neck tank quickly off the hanger. Running to the dressing room I slipped the tank on and instantly fell in love. I felt confident and vibrant as I looked in the mirror hanging on the wall.

Not only did the tank make me feel good, but made my wallet feel even better. The twelve pounds slid out of my wallet just as fast as the tank slid off the hanger.

Affordable clothing can make or break your fashion sense, especially for students like me that are enrolled in university. Traid is a charity retailer on a mission to change fashion for the better, collecting and curating second- hand clothes for resale all throughout London.
